About Your Guide

MeetDeuChandra

More than a guide. A friend, a storyteller, and a lifelong student of the mountains.

Deu Chandra, experienced Himalayan trekking guide

My Story

I am Deu Chandra, and I have been guiding trekkers through the Himalayas since 1992. I was born and raised in Nepal, and the mountains have been my classroom, my office, and my home for as long as I can remember.

In 2000, I completed my formal Trekking Guide Course at the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management in Pokhara and Kathmandu. But the most important lessons came from the mountains themselves: reading the weather, understanding altitude, knowing when to push forward and when to wait.

I specialise in the Annapurna region, where I know every lodge, every trail fork, and every hidden viewpoint. I have also guided extensively in the Everest and Manaslu regions, completing classic routes like Everest Base Camp and the Gokyo Trek many times over.

What makes my treks different is simple: I do not run group tours. Every trek I lead is private. I work with you to build a customised itinerary based on your fitness, your interests, and the time you have. I handle the permits, the porters, the logistics, and the altitude planning. You just walk, look, and breathe.

I speak fluent English and Nepali, along with several local dialects. I love to share the small things most people miss: a rare wildflower, a story about a village temple, the right spot to watch the sunset turn the peaks gold.

When I am not on the trail, I live with my family in Pokhara. My guesthouse is open to trekkers who want to start or end their journey with a taste of real Nepali hospitality: a warm bed, a home-cooked meal, and good conversation.
